About Jing Ye
MA, LCPC, FOT
I am a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a certified Focusing Oriented Therapist (www.focusing.org) with over 25 years experience.
Besides individual and couple/family counseling sessions, I provide mindfulness related trainings and workshops, support and therapy groups, life coaching, clinical supervision, and consultation.
I received my Masters degree in Psychology/Counseling from Goddard College in Vermont. I have worked at Adolescent Recovery Program, a Community Mental Health Clinic, and mostly Liberal Arts Colleges. I led weekly meditation groups on a college campus for 22 years. My extensive training and practice in Buddhist teachings and meditation, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, and Eastern philosophy serve as a fabric interwoven into all aspects of my life and clinical practice.
As a therapist, I trust the healing power of unconditional presence. I allow myself to be open to what emerges in the moment with a non-judgmental attitude, compassion, and respect for the client’s innate healing power.
My Practice
On A Personal Note
I live in the woods by a cove in Phippsburg, ME. I regularly run on the beach with my dog, Jasper, and hike on various trails in the area. Reading, cooking, traveling internationally and silent meditation retreats, as well as life long exposure to diverse cultural, political, and personal experiences, cultivate my ability to connect deeply with clients of various backgrounds.
Focusing Oriented Therapy
Every situation you encounter in life, whether it's joyful or sad, large or small, gives you a distinct body sense. In focusing, you learn how to attend to the subtle language of the sensing body. A river of experience flows through you. You can talk above that river, or you can direct your attention down to its banks and sense its direction. The river already has its own direction. For every issue, the organism, the body, the being, has it own sense of the next right step. Every concern you have, if you sit with it, at that unclear edge, has its sense of the next right step. You have a lot of wisdom there. Focusing is a way to access that wisdom. For more information, please visit: www.focusing.org
Meditation and Spiritual Growth
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
One way to experience this is through meditation. When we are tuned in to the spiritual nature, we are less likely to identify with our roles and less reactive to our emotional ups and downs or losses and gains. However, some people try to bypass psychological issues through spiritual or religious practices and only get more frustrated with their conditioned thoughts and behavior patterns.
Instead of separating body and spirit, we work holistically to connect with our intrinsic goodness and deepen our understanding of life in both its visible and invisible reality.
"You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves."
- Mary Oliver, "Wild Geese"
"What is going on in your innermost being is worthy of your whole love."
- Rainer Maria Rilke
"Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In that response lies our growth and our freedom."
- Victor Frankl
